Starboard bias and better timing, distance to line, and speed canceled out the tack that NZL had to do, having boats equal after the NZL tack.

Note, GPS device is clearly not at the bow.

1st Upwind

Whenever boats went right their true wind speed was higher. Kiwis went there twice. Also NZL made way more upwind meters in all the tacks.

Note very bright red after every tack of Ineos. Darker, almost green after NZL tack.

Tacks. NZL has higher min speed, bearing away less and so much flatter VMG dip than GBR

2nd Upwind

Big left constant shift at the end. Lifting Kiwis hard. They have lost some of the gains since they didn’t lay the mark and had to go against it.

2nd Downwind

Kiwis should have gybed ASAP. Rounded the top mark in huge lefty, any sailing on port tack was big loss. Plus took them away from the breeze. All the gains on this leg were left side of the screen. Doing right turn at the top was pretty favored, shift created big gate bias.
