Start

Huge bias, favoring the pin and making it the only place to start. Boats over or too close to pin, so only two out of five managed to do the proper start. The distance to line in table shows the distance between the device and line.

1st Upwind

Looks like that shift at the start was not there to stay. In this case, you want to sail on port tack as soon as possible anticipating the wind to come back to the right. Also, with the left wind, the course ended up being skewed to the right. Then you don’t want to spend the left side too soon, but leave some space to still play shifts. SailRacer did this, tacked below the leading two boats and had time to patiently wait for a right shift to cross. The other two right side boats were far behind at the start. Happy also went too far right, not taking the first right shift, but sailing against it.

- Right/Left/Right shift, sailed well by SailRacer

The wind going right
Top Mark

Some seconds can always be saved if possible to sail the straightest line. Tyra went wide and lost quite some time.

1st Downwind

Liquid Sun got some nice gust at the right side and was the only boat that was sailing full speed and pretty low. In the second part of the leg, left boats got some better conditions, too. Reducing the damage. Tyra and Fin787 ended up on the wrong side of the shift in the last part. They have decided to go against the shift in different way. Tyra dead downwind and FIN787 with a bad high angle. The performance was quite similar. Still, going dead downwind might be a good way to go when you have to sail against the shift on the downwind, the same way as fast mode is a must when sailing with the shift, if possible to accelerate properly.

- Liquid Sun with nice breeze at the corner
- Left boats solid on the way to the mark
- Tyra and Happy stuck, performance color similar even thought they sail different modes.

Gate Rounding

13m of bias. Loss clearly seen when comparing Tyra to Fin787. Clear TTL jump for boats doing the right turn.

2nd Upwind

Leader extended a bit. Tyra had solid upwind, catching the nice right lift in the middle, while staying above Fin787. They kept going a bit longer and that took them to the last left shift better, too. Happy sailed against the left shift at the beginning of the leg and when the left finally arrived, they were too far on the left side.

A few wind shifts to be used. The biggest was a right lift in the middle.

2nd Downwind

The first boats rounding with left wind and then getting the right after the gybe, making their leg much easier than for boats that were stuck at the top mark in more right wind direction and less breeze. Tyra and Fin787 had another nice battle where FIN was losing by going more left, but gaining back, sailing higher later. Till the moment Tyra got more right breeze and managed to roll over. Happy gained on both of them with middle option.
