    Start

6 degrees of bias, causing exactly 10% of line length advantage. Is a lot and needs to be taken. GWH and First Tracks had equal starts, but GWH has extended well after, taking the lead.

    1st Upwind

Pretty long leg with stable wind. GWH took the lead after the start and went almost all the way left. AMac and Racer CC tacked earlier and were even gaining on the leader. At the very end, the wind went left, allowing GWH to come back into the lead and even increase it a bit.

GWH, AMac and RacerCC have thicker lines.
    1. Leader GWH track
    2. Amac, 2nd boat track
    3. Left shift at the top, clearly greener and quite a bad VMG on starboard layline, quite some boats forced to overlay the mark.
Clean sailing, no start and maneuvers. Sorted by VMG. AMac did the best there.

Pretty stable wind with left on top.

    Top Mark

Magpie took 3 seconds from AMac and RacerCC and 6 from the leader GWH in 100m to and from the mark. They sailed the offset in a straight line and gained also on the hoist. On the other side, Surprise went very wide and has lost a lot.

    1st Downwind

Magpie and AMac with the same time, the best in the fleet. They have caught on GWH and RacerCC and overtook them, each one from its side, so is probably pure performance gain. The surprise of the leg was the Surprise, having almost the same time as the best boats. They did a straight set and went to the layline, probably with some better breeze in the back. Overall straight set to the corner seemed to be the better option, Triad and THT also sailing solid there.

VMGs are so similar, is hard to see much difference in color. Can be that waves make you go green then red.
One Magpie point over 10 kts of speed.

    Gate Rounding

Only 8m of gate bias. Not much, and for sure very hard to notice. However, on the Magpie vs Amac animation, you can see that it creates 20m of upwind distance gain for AMac. Gate bias is hard to spot, boats are coming with the difficult angle to really see it. So if you can actually see one gate higher upwind than the other, is big enough to be taken. After many hundreds of races reports done, this is the most underestimated part of the race. One of the reasons for it is that you are so busy that you don’t notice your loss or gain.

On time to leader graph is very easy to spot the boats that were rounding the lower mark. They all have steep drop of TTL.

    2nd Upwind

A bit different than the first one. Started in a left shift, then it was shifting right while boats sailed to the left. At the very end went back left. The right shift allowed Magpie and RacerCC to catch up on leader AMac, by being more right than them.

    1. Left shift
    2. going right, boat tracks curving up on starboard
    3. left again closer to the top

Clean sailing, no maneuvers and 100m from marks.

    2nd Top Mark

    2nd Downwind

Early gybe was the key in the front pack. Racer CC losing a lot by staying more to the left hand side. In the back, The Don and Playing Around had solid times. Can be there was fresh wind coming to them, also less traffic.

    2nd Gate

The wind went to 213, max right so far, but it still didn’t fix the gate bias. Right turn was favored and boats coming close to different marks were just switching positions in the race. Best visible on RacerCC vs GWH animation.

RacerCC taking 20 seconds from GWH.

Since the leader took the unfavored mark, there was nice gain in TTL for the boats rounding the other one.

    3rd Upwind

Some oscilations in the wind, with a bit of gain from the left on top. RacerCC had great leg on the left side. First tracks went more right and had a solid upwind, too. Rogue has chosen the mid way and also gained. Magpie was losing the most of the front boats.

The only thing visible is clearly green port tack in the 2nd half, with a bit of left shift.
Removing maneuvers and 100m to and from the marks, Magpie was not performing the best. RacerCC was clearly the best VMG boat in the fleet.
