Start

I checked a bit of pre-race sailing and saw the numbers being much more right at some points than you had at the start. This is one of the exceptions when you make your start decision to have you sailing on the lifted tack and into the next shift. The line was biased to pin, but as soon as the wind goes back, the ladder changes, and you are suddenly on the wrong end of everything. Even if you cannot check the wind pre start, it was clear that on port you go almost direction top mark.

The line was 9 degrees biased. All it takes is 18 degrees right shift and suddenly everything flips over.

1st Upwind

The most important thing was to get going on port tack. This means you start every lifted and head to the next shift. The next right was holding for very long with another short left and then right again the top.

Fumanchu tacked one more time to the right just a bit earlier than others and has used the last left/right switch the best. At the very end, it was much better to be right.

  1. Very red sailing on starboard. Port tack almost going straight to the mark
  2. Fumanchu on the right connecting shifts, all the left side had to go against the big right shift
SWD. removed the peace where everyone sails the same tack (app cannot calculate it then). Big right with one left kick

Top Mark

100m to and from the mark stats

1st Downwind

The fastest boats were the one far in the back. Fumanchu also extended nicely. The Don did long straight set in right wind and has lost a lot. In the main pack, most boats sailed very similar time.

Gate Rounding

Left turn favored. 10m more upwind, resulting in boats doing the left turn doing 20m less Upwind distance as seen in the numbers.

2nd Upwind

The left paid with the wind shifting to the left. There was one short slowdown with a bit of right shift, but overall was all about being left.

AMac closed on Fumanchu, a lot at the beginning of the leg and then also due to Fumanchu sailing over the layline with the last big left shift.

HKG was the only boat that managed to do OK in the mid of the race area.

Suggested WInd Dir

2nd Downwind

Not so many changes in positions. Avalon gained at the end of the leg from more upwind-left side. AMac closed in on Fumanchu and rolled them close to the finish. Some time compression towards the end of the leg. HKG and Jindivik losing some meters, also.
