Reports Reading Guide

Back to all races

Race Area

Longer area and more to the left of the race before. Wind following the shore lines with the left bend at the top.

Start

Still some bias, but much less than in the race before. Some advantage at the gun for the pin boats, but 1 minute after, all the boats were pretty much equal. Andoo closest to the line, but forced to tack and duck a lot.

1st Upwind

Very interesting upwind with a lot of changes in the results. ASCC took the initial lead with big lift on the way left. Then Finport and Andoo took it over. Finport again popping in front with a nice high lane on starboard. They held the lead, but at the very end big left gust/shift allowed all the left layline boats to gain a lot. Victoria ended up below the mark and had a long way around to get there. Marine O still sometimes sailing extremely low.

  1. ASCC is gaining going to the shore
  2. Finport taking the lead with right shift
  3. Big gain on the left layline
  4. Finport struggling to get to the top mark with wind clocking left

Clean sailing stats, no maneuvers and roundings

Top Mark

Top 3 boats had much higher speed after the hoist. Marine O way over the left layline with difficult maneuver.

100m to and from the mark stats

1st Downwind

Lazarus losing lead to ASCC for two short moments, but has extended at the end. ASCC losing a lot in the 2nd part. ANDOO had a great lane down the middle and did the fastest downwind of all. The three boats in the back were slower.

1. Great lane of ANDOO

Gate Rounding

A boat length of bias on the right mark looking upwind. ANDOO used it and with clean rounding has gained the most. Victoria with a big dive to the mark, pretty slow approach. Possibly better to forget about it, sail high earlier and do two gybes.

2nd Upwind

Lazarus gained on the left at first, but Andoo got it back a bit later. Victoria had solid gain with the right approach to the mark. Finport losing on starboard a lot by going low and then went the furthest to the left which was also losing more meters.

  1. Gain by the left boats
  2. Andoo gaining back
  3. Victoria with nice right shift
  4. Left layline boats not doing well

Clean sailing stats, no maneuvers and rounding

Top Mark

Lazarus with much better hoist than Andoo.

100m to and from the mark. pretty similar performance except Lazarus faster than all

2nd Downwind

Wind more left at 47 degrees. Skewed course on this downwind

Marine O with the fastest downwind. Lazarus stretched at first, but mostly losing later. Victoria rolled Finport on starboard with even more left wind direction.

Skewed downwind

Leeward Rounding

ANDOO with quite a wide rounding.

100m to and from the mark stats.

3rd Upwind

Big mistake by Lazarus and Andoo, not taking the header to tack to the mark. Then they got another lift and ended up way over the layline. Marine O and ASCC gaining the lead. Finport had the best climb up the fleet in the 2nd part.

Header that could possibly be taken to get to the top mark. Once the mark is so much right, you need to find any excuse to tack to it.

3rd Upwind Mark

ASCC with hoisting trouble, lost two places

3rd Downwind

Finport and Victoria with the fastest leg. Andoo also gaining. ASCC with big loss.
