VMG – speed in the direction to the wind set. Note it is not the actual VMG to the wind since the wind direction and wind speed are not measured. It is VMG to the wind number that is set in the app. In stable winds, it can relate to actual VMG to the wind and you can make conclusions if you sail higer or lower to the wind. In shiftier winds it shows more if you have sailed in lifted or headed shift.
