Heel Value in the App
The heel value represents the boat’s tilt in degrees. The app calculates heel based on the set wind direction and displays it as either windward (WW) heel or leeward (LW) heel:
• On graphs → Negative values indicate windward heel, while positive values indicate leeward heel.
• In numerical displays → The app adds “WW” (windward) or “LW” (leeward) to the number for clarity.
Zeroing a Misaligned Device
If heel values differ between tacks, the logging device may not have been properly placed or zeroed. In this case, you can adjust the heel offset for a specific period.
How to Zero Heel Values
1. Find a reference period
• Select a segment where you’re confident the heel values should be equal on both tacks.
• Optionally: Use the Port and Starboard values in Data Screen (Value Mode) to check for any offset.
2. Apply the correction
• Long-press Heel in the Data Screen.
• Select Edit Value.
• Tap Zero Port/Starboard to adjust the heel values across the log.
3. Save your changes
• The correction will apply to the entire log for that period.
• To keep the adjustment for future analysis, save the logs after making changes.

Select a reference period, remove the maneuvers to have it more reliable.

Long press Heel in the Data Screen and select Value Info. Tap Zero Pt/Stbd to adjust the heel values for both tacks. After zeroing, the heel values should be the same on both port and starboard tacks.
Downwind Heel Considerations
When sailing on a downwind course with low angles, a boat may cross dead downwind without gybing. In such cases, heel calculations become unreliable because the app cannot determine the boom’s position and considers that the boat has gybed.
To improve accuracy, if you know the gybe the boat was sailing on, you can temporarily adjust the wind direction so all data aligns with that gybe. This ensures reliable heel values for that period.

The boat goes almost dead down to set wind direction. Since it crosses the dead downwind angle, heel numbers are corrupted.

By temporarily changing the wind direction, the boat now sails on the same tack all the time, and the heel number is reliable.
Heel Travel Calculation
By default, the app automatically calculates heel travel to provide better insights into your sailing performance.
