Sea Current Measure App User Guide iOS

The app is divided into three tabs.

Measurement Tab
List Tab
Map Tab

Measuring

  1. Once you open the app or unlock the screen, allow the app to pick up better GPS data. You can see the GPS accuracy in the top left corner and monitor your track to see if it runs smoothly without too many points scattered.
  2. When ready, put the measuring stick in the water and press the “Start” button while holding the phone close to it
  3. Allow a certain time before the pickup. The longer the stick stays, the better the measurement. If the current is strong, it is unnecessary to keep it very long since the stick will move enough. The suggested time would be more than a minute for lighter currents and at least 30 seconds for stronger currents.
  4. When picking up the stick, press the “Stop” button. The app will show the measured values till the next measurement.

GPS track

The GPS track helps you realize when the phone has reliable GPS lock. It should show your approximate movement and the range you have moved should be small if you are standing idle in your boat.

Small movement, ready to measure
Wait till your last movement moves fewer meters
