Video Screen

Apps Video Screen lets you see the imported video with the current data overlayed on it.

Compatibility Warning

To ensure that the iPhone footage can be opened on an Android device, you need to set the video mode on your iPhone to “Most Compatible” mode. This makes the video files a bit larger and does not affect the quality of it. The same applies to DJI devices. Set the video format to H264 for more compatible one.

Importing Videos

Videos are imported as any other logs. The videos will align with the logs using the video file metadata. If the device filming is GPS synchronized, as most of them are, and your filming device time is set to automatic Date/Time, the data will match the video.

To import video file(s), click the Import button and select the videos. The videos should have been previously stored on the SailViewer app’s device.

Once the video is imported, all the logs opened from that time on should have the video shown on the Graph screen timeline and, if the video also has GPS position in metadata, also on the GPS Path screen.

Video Screen

To open the Video screen, click the “Screen” button and select “Video“. If the current timestamp at the time end slider matches the video, the video frame at that time will be on the screen. Otherwise, the screen will be black, but the current data will remain visible.

The end-time slider is on the video. The graph ends in grey color.

If your sliders get too close, use the Zoom In button to stretch them out so you can fine-tune them.

Playing the Video

To play the video, bring the end slider to the point you want it to start playing. Click on the Player button and then on the newly open player controls press Play.

The video should start playing and other screens will also play parallel to the video.

Jumping to the video beginning

When you open the Events Screen (Menu/Events), you will find the videos listed there as well. If you then click on the END button of a video, the end slider will move to the beginning of the video, preparing it to start playing.

Select Values To Show

To choose the displayed values, simply tap the Vals button located on the video screen. The Vals button becomes visible upon touching the video screen. You can opt for any of the provided values and determine the averaging method applied to each number.
