Polar Screen

The polar diagram shows all the sailing points of selected time in a way that distance from the center is the speed and angle is the angle to the wind. Wind always comes from the top of the screen. VMG in this case is the vertical distance from the center toward the top and bottom of the screen.

It is used to compare the angles and speeds of boats. It is also very useful to notice the areas of sailing that don’t fit into the usual pattern.

It is also used to set the wind direction. Clicking on the SWD button, either on the Polar Screen or bottom of the main app screen, sets the wind to the suggested value by the app. If the wind is 180 degrees wrong, just click one more time. App sets the wind direction based on angles boats were sailing on different tacks. It tries to make the polar graph look symmetrical.

Logs sailed only on one tack cannot find the wind automatically.

The polar diagram is also used to see what the wind does during the race/day. The SWD value shown is the suggested wind direction for the selected period. By changing the time selection you get fast information about the wind direction at that time frame.

Shuffle – puts different log dots on the top.

COG – if this button is shown, logs have the Heading value. It will switch the dots to show the angles from the heading value. Is useful to see the Leeway, current effect or just to check the calibration of the heading compass of the logging device.

SWD – sets the suggested wind direction. Click once more to flip it 180 degrees if needed.

Dots Radius – sets the size of the dots

Transparency – sets the transparency of the dots

Move Log To Top – select which log you want to be on the top of the others

Export Screenshot – creates screenshot image of this screen and allows you to send it
