Back To Sydney

Crutch Sailing

Looks like most of the time crutch is used for reaching. Probably teams not keen on using it for VMG sailing.

AUS using it the mos, but also not much. Good part of crutch use is on reach only. a bit on upwind. Good peace of it when overstanding the top mark. On DW, thre is hardly any crutch sailing. So looks like it is only tactical thing that brings VMG down.

USA doing it with most LW clew position. WW rakes are around 1.5-2.5 with Denmark going to 3.8

USA does it on higher speed on average than most. 14-17kph is average place people use it. We do it 17-19kph.

H1 Sailing UW

Don’t look at performance numbers, they can be misleading. Is more just to see what settings people have.

USA low LW rake (0.2 vs 0.5-1.5) and rake on more active side.

USA low heel and leeway. 7.2LW vs 7.5-9LW

USA the most active with clew movement

H2 Downwind

Active on LW rake. LW rake on lower side (around 0 vs low positive numbers).

Low rudder avg. 2 vs 2.3-3

Rudder most in the middle of the boat. less weather helm.

Ca1 a bit on fuller side 34

clew moving with higher freq of direction changes.Low twist (5 vs approx 10)
