Race area

The position of the race area close to Cap Reamol doesn’t guarantee that the right side will be winning. This is already a part of the lake where it gets tricky. Also, the day was not a typical sunny Garda day, so crews need to be more alert and forget about the usual rules.

Start

there was a significant line bias of 14 degrees, making it 40 meters more upwind at the RC side.
Also, many boats were in the middle quite behind the line, many of them giving up 40m+ of upwind distance to RC starters.

1st upwind

Both sides of the race course were quite equal, with a bit of advantage on the right-hand side. Fin has used its good start to tack and go right and managed to cross and win the upwind. Boat 6 and green followed and in the 4th place arrived Katna from the left side of the course.

1st downwind

Fin did a gybe set and had the best possible downwind. Green followed and was almost overtaking Boat 6. Looking at the trails of other boats, clearly, the wind was quite unsteady as their courses are going all over the place with VMGs going into negative numbers at some points.
